The Board
Alexander Shaw
Non-Executive Chairman
Alexander is a highly accomplished geologist with over 15 years of global experience in exploration and production. He has spent the majority of his career exploring for and developing diamond, base and precious metal deposits within Africa, Central and South America. He has significant knowledge of the region having obtained his DPhil from the University of Oxford on the geology of the Mega Kalahari Basin and having managed and developed projects in Angola, Zambia, DRC, Botswana and Namibia with First Quantum Minerals and BHP. Alexander is a Fellow of the Geological Society of London and also a member of the following professional bodies: Australian Institute of Geoscientists, Southern Africa Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, American Institute of Professional Geologists and the Society of Economic Geologists.
Cadell Buss
Founder & Managing Director
Cadell is a multi-industry senior executive with over 20 years’ experience locally and internationally in marketing, project development and capital markets. Cadell was the CEO of Western Australia’s longest serving stockbroking firm DJ Carmichael for 4.5 years and has consulted to a number of ASX listed companies with African based assets. Cadell was previously Project and Finance Director with Luso Global Mining (Luso), an angel investor to African based exploration companies. Cadell is also a Non-Executive Director of Atlas Pearls Ltd (ASX:ATP). Cadell has a Masters degree in Project Management, an MBA from Murdoch University and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Manuel Mota
Non-Executive Director
Manuel Mota is a Board Member of Mota-Engil Group and its Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO). He has been a board member since February 2016 when he was appointed CEO for Africa, he has subsequently also been appointed as CEO for ME Europe in March 2019. He was appointed to his role as CBDO in June 2021. Prior to that he was a member of the board of Mota-Engil Europe Engineering & Construction. In his previous role, he also acted as Chief Executive Officer for Mota-Engil Central Europe, which includes responsibility for Poland, Czech Republic, and other Central European countries. Manuel Mota started his career in 2009 within the Group in Angola as an Engineer and progressed steadily to become Member of the Board of Mota-Engil Angola, until he was appointed as Chief Executive Officer for Mota-Engil Central Europe in May 2013. He graduated with a Masters in Civil Engineering from University College London. He has subsequently been appointed as CEO of Mota-Engil Europe which he holds alongside with his position in Mota-Engil Africa.
José Martins
Non-Executive Director
José is a highly regarded finance executive with over 25 years’ experience in the management of public and private companies. He has previously held CFO roles with Alliance Mining Commodities Limited (owner of a major bauxite project in Guinea, West Africa) and ASX listed Macmahon Holdings Limited and Ausdrill Limited (now part of Perenti). José qualified as a Chartered Accountant in South Africa, and holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (with distinction) from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Directorships of other listed companies held in the last three years: GenusPlus Group Limited (Non-Executive Director appointed 03/01/2018); Atlas Pearls (Chairman) (appointed 17/05/2024 as Non-Executive Director and Chairman 01/01/2025).
Graham Hewson
Non-Executive Director
Graham is a highly accomplished senior executive with more than 30 years of global leadership experience across the entire titanium value chain. His career is defined by a deep expertise in managing complex portfolios that span heavy mineral sands extraction, mineral separation, high-grade titanium dioxide production, and titanium metal products.
